The most beloved South Asian art form of all time, the Pakistani drama, has been turning out some of the best entertainment in the world since its inception over half a century ago. Though the Pakistani dramas of 2022 won’t get the same worldwide acclaim as those of 1982, they will no doubt be some of the highest-rated dramas that year and thus need to be recognized by drama connoisseurs everywhere. In no particular order, here are our picks for the top 10 Pakistani dramas of 2022 and why they made this list.

Aar Zara is a top Pakistani drama series that will premiere in 2022. Aar Zara will focus on politics and corruption in Pakistan, although it’s likely to gain attention for its high-quality acting and fantastic directing as well. For millions of people around Pakistan, Aar Zara promises to be one of their favorite television shows ever; some observers speculate that Aar Zara may even win a number of top drama awards from critics around Pakistan.
2) Drama - Khuda Aur Muhabbat
No list of top Pakistani dramas is complete without mention of Khuda Aur Muhabbat, which is a stellar example that just one great drama can stay in people’s hearts for years. Waqt is a highly-acclaimed drama which is about a father’s unconditional love for his daughter. The story revolves around Imtiaz, played by Humayun Saeed who does not like daughters. He has two sons and he expects his elder son to get married soon so that he can have a grandson.
5) Drama - Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewah
Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewah is a drama serial aired on Geo Entertainment television channel. It stars Khaaliq Paracha and Sanam Chaudhry in lead roles. Produced by Shah Rukh Khan, Umer Asim, and Sadia Abid Ali under Red One production banners, it is written by Umer Asim and directed by Wajahat Hussain. The first episode was aired on November 15, 2016 at 8:00 pm. Later, it went off air due to low ratings but returned after a gap of 3 months with new cast and crew. The story revolves around Quddusi Sahab who lives with his family in Dubai. His wife has left him for her ex-husband and son who lives with them now. He comes back to Pakistan from Dubai to take revenge from his wife and son for leaving him all alone in Dubai.
6) Drama - Kaneez
If you’re looking for an escape from reality, Kaneez is your best bet. This highly-anticipated drama follows a family of lawyers and their troubled daughter—who’s determined to become just like them. The series is touted as being Pakistan’s first legal family drama, and is directed by none other than Ashir Azeem.
7) Drama - Kinara
Kinara, one of Pakistan’s most popular dramas, first aired in 2002 and has been watched by many avid fans ever since. 8) Drama - Dil Apna Preet Parayian
This drama is sure to have you hooked from start to finish. With twists and turns aplenty, it’s a ride you won’t soon forget. Set iinn Karachi, it follows 20-something Preet as she deals with her wedding preparations, trying to please her mother (played by veteran Urwa Hocane), and falling for one of her sisters fiancés. What starts out as a typical family drama quickly becomes much more, when Preet discovers that her father has been hiding something huge from her. To make matters worse, her sister gets engaged to someone else—and not just anyone: someone who might be linked to their fathers secret! As if that wasn’t enough stress for poor Preet, there are also those pesky feelings she has for Faisal...it's almost too much! In February 2020, one of Pakistan’s leading drama channels released a heart-wrenching and deeply emotional drama titled Har Pal Geo Pe. The story follows Paro, an impoverished young girl who has fallen in love with Zafar, a rich boy from Lahore. Unfortunately for Paro, Zafar is engaged to be married to Nuzhat—the heiress to a massive media empire that owns Pakistan's largest drama channel.
10) Drama – Rishtay Kuch Adhooray Sein
Set in Pakistan, Drama Rishtay Kuch Adhooray Sein is a popular Pakistani drama that aired on Hum TV in 2017. It was directed by Nauman Yousuf and written by Ali Imran. The drama had an average rating of 8.3 on IMDb, making it one of the most highly rated dramas on Indian television in 2017. It starred actors such as Samiya Mumtaz, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Sajid Hassan, Behroze Sabzwari and others. The drama follows two characters: Samiha (Samiya Mumtaz) and Junaid (Mikaal Zulfiqar). Samiha lives with her husband Asad (Behroze Sabzwari), who is married to another woman named Nafisa (Nimra Bucha). Junaid lives with his wife Hira (Ushna Shah), who has just given birth to their daughter Ayaan. Both families have been friends for years but have never met each other due to their busy schedules.
